Introduction

 "They fear him they don't love him", these were the words of a concerned father talking to his son who was falling into a world full of senseless violence. Chazz Palmintari wrote A Bronx Tale, a coming of age story that details the life of young boy growing up in Belmont a working class Italian American town in the bronx in the early 1960s. This movie was the first movie I ever remember loving.  It opened my mind and made me look at movies as a true art form that can display every emotion and feeling in seconds. My appreciation towards movies has only grown over the years as I discover more directors and actors or actresses that are able to make me feel one with the film.

As for why I took this class, I really want to dive deeper into my own head and see what I am attracted to in the films. This class will make me look deeper and fully assess the emotions I feel when watching movies. Being an exercise science major I really have no plan of going into the film or entertainment industry but that doesn’t stop me from wanting to learn more about an industry that is so prevalent in all of our lives.

Im excited to learn and grow as a writer but also as a viewer of movies throughout this class. Taking the time to learn and understand concepts in films and artistic decisions excites me and makes me look forward to watching movies in a new way!

    If you liked A Bronx Tale you should really check out The Many Saints of Newark. Another great crime/gangster movie.

    Woah, I've never even heard of A Bronx Tale. I definitely need to check it out after your description of the movie. I'm taking FILM 100 for literally the same reasons. Everyone watches film in some sort of way, and it will help grow my knowledge for film as well.

Background The 2017 film "Get Out" was directed by Jordan Peele and it was his directorial debut. Without getting too into the details just yet I would say for Peele's directorial debut this film was a home run. Starring Daniel Kaluuya and Allison Willams the duo plays the role of a young couple traversing life as an interracial couple, this lays out the experience of meeting Rose's, played by Williams, family. Die Hard Movie Review

  Die Hard is arguably the greatest Christmas movie of all time, yes it is a Christmas movie and you can't change my mind. Die Hard is pure action and Bruce Willis plays the main character John McClane perfectly. His action movie skills coupled with his care free and chill persona create a character that you have to get behind. You can't mention Die Hard without talking about Hans Gruber played by Alan Rickman. Rickman went above and beyond when playing this roll. Whenever I watch a movie the villain role is a part that can make or break the movie. I always refer to Batman when Heath Ledger played the joker, that movie is great for many reasons but the Joker performance elevated that movie to a different level. Jaws Movie Review

  Considered the original blockbuster by many and being a movie in a lot of peoples top ten lists, Jaws was a must watch. The 1975 classic was directed by Steven Spielberg and he truly didn't miss with this film. The movie starts by introducing a family that lives in a small beach town that is famous for its beautiful beaches and its fourth of July celebration. Brody played by Roy Schneider was the main star in the movie was the head of the police in the town. This being the first summer that Brody is police chief he has some big shoes to fill but he's ready. Everything is going well when all of a sudden shark attacks begin to occur and this wasn't just one attack it was becoming consistent. After a couple attacks and panic set out around town a campaign was sparked to kill the shark. The entire town jumped in their boats the next day hoping to get the reward for killing the shark.
