Why Regular Show is Amazing

Image
Although this is a blog about films I had to write a little something about a show most people know, Regular Show. Despite it being in the name this show is far from regular with what happens but the beauty of it is that its through the life of two 23 year old friends who live pretty normal lives. Mordecai and Rigby are best friends who work at a park with their co workers/ best friends, muscle man, high five ghost, Skips, Pops, and their boss benson. Their life is pretty normal, they work a minimum wage job keeping a public park clean, they play video games and eat a bunch of food. Mordecai and Rigby are not your typical workers though, like many young adults they thread the line of right and wrong to try and make life a little easier in the process they usually summon a god or form of evil that they have to defeat. You're probaly wondering what makes this kids show so spectacular, the combination of great storytelling, quick episodes, simple animation and relatable content make...

Short Review of "Us" Jordan Peele's Second Film

Image
After seeing "Get Out" I was hooked on Jordan Peele and had to go see his second project as the head director. I had high hopes going into this film after seeing "Get Out" and honestly I was a little disappointed. I was able to identify the movies twist early on and it felt like a race to the end the whole movie. This doesn't take away anything from the production, it really just means the story didn't click with me. After such a successful launch of "Get Out" "Us" was thrusted to the top of all movie goers lists as a must see which I think may have given it the initial bump in media coverage it got.  I was able to feel the rush of emotions and suspense feeling which was obviously one of the goals but I think where it was lacking was a story viewers can get sucked into. With get out we were given the role as a spectator early on but in this film I was constantly walking the line between being in the film and being a viewer. Overall I wo...

Get out Movie Review

Image
Background The 2017 film "Get Out" was directed by Jordan Peele and it was his directorial debut. Without getting too into the details just yet I would say for Peele's directorial debut this film was a home run. Starring Daniel Kaluuya and Allison Willams the duo plays the role of a young couple traversing life as an interracial couple, this lays out the experience of meeting Rose's, played by Williams, family. It was made clear in the film that Chris played by Kaluuya was scared and uncomfortable but Rose ensured him everything would be fine. They got to her house and the vibe felt off from the start. The question of race was in almost every conversation but not in a negative way. They were praising Chris for what they described as "god given ability" or they talked about how his genetic makeup was ideal. This freaked Chris out and he wanted to literally get out. As the film unfolded we find that this family runs an operation that takes the brain of one per...
