Short Review of "Us" Jordan Peele's Second Film

Review of the new film “Us” – WNTI Radio – Centenary University

After seeing "Get Out" I was hooked on Jordan Peele and had to go see his second project as the head director. I had high hopes going into this film after seeing "Get Out" and honestly I was a little disappointed. I was able to identify the movies twist early on and it felt like a race to the end the whole movie. This doesn't take away anything from the production, it really just means the story didn't click with me. After such a successful launch of "Get Out" "Us" was thrusted to the top of all movie goers lists as a must see which I think may have given it the initial bump in media coverage it got.

I was able to feel the rush of emotions and suspense feeling which was obviously one of the goals but I think where it was lacking was a story viewers can get sucked into. With get out we were given the role as a spectator early on but in this film I was constantly walking the line between being in the film and being a viewer.

Overall I wouldn't say this is a film you need to avoid but it's also one that you don't need to rush to see. Letting this story pull you in naturally can make the viewing experience a lot better.
