Rear Window
.) Jeffries broke his leg when he was getting a picture of a car at a race but the car hit him.
.) As a viewer we were only given the perspective of Jeffries. This allows us to only know as much as he knows so we are on the same journey as him. It also is one of the big reasons the movie is so suspenseful until the end.
.) I don’t think so. I think part of Jeffries confidence to keep digging about the murder was the fact that he was confined to his room. He was able to play a huge role while never putting himself in danger. All the time he had also played a part in getting him interested in the murder as well.
.) I think as a viewer we would be more likely to not think there was a murder because we would see all the steps Lars was taking to cover the murder and we’d slowly gain his trust.
.) This movie does a good job of portraying the stereotypical norms of women in the 50’s. Jeffries is often bossy to Lisa and she plays right into it wanting the attention and care from Jeffries.
.) Jeffries thinks Lisa is too perfect for his lifestyle of traveling around and always being busy with work. He thinks she needs a better man in her life.
.) When Jeffries discovered the handbag and the fact that the wedding ring was left in the bag she becomes suspect saying no women would ever leave that behind.
.) The film suggests that for someone you love you would do anything for them. We saw it with Lisa jumping to the task of finding evidence when Lars was away. We also saw Jefferies get emotional when he was Lisa in the apartment, it was almost like he felt responsible.
.) Jeffries was the only one around who was stuck in his home. Not everyone was looking for someone looking. He also did a good job of kind of hiding in the shadows.
.) I think in this case it would be overshadowed by a murderer being caught but it does still raise the question is it ethical. The act of stalking is obviously not right but the film ending with Jeffries being the hero suggests that in this case it was the right thing to do.
