Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal
I am a bit obsessed with animated television at the moment and I'm loving it. One show that really captivates me is Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal. An animated series that details the life of a caveman and his dinosaur friend as they stay alive in a world full of threats. This film has no talking and the episodes are only 20 minutes. Thats what originally pulled me in, I knew that since there was no speaking I would have to disconnect to really experience the show fully and I loved it.
One thing this show does so well is the animation itself. The shows colors are somewhat mute and bleak at times but the overflow of color in important scenes pulls the audience right back in. The bleak feeling is also a very common theme in the show as death and battle are quite regular.
Another aspect of the show that I love is the realness of it. The team that made this show really didn't hold back on the emotional and heart wrenching moments. The show is a depiction of life, and in life there are setbacks and challenges which are displayed perfectly in the show. Despite there being no words your feel and understand everything that the characters experience. Pain, heartbreak, joy and confidence are common emotions felt during the show.
Primal is a great show and I would highly recommend. It was a show that started as a study break for me and it quickly became a true masterpiece of a show that I will continue to rave about to all my friends until they watch it.
