Gravity Falls

Gravity Falls (TV Series 2012–2016) - IMDb

The hit adventure mystery show Gravity falls debuted on Disney channel in 2012 but continued its development and popularity into 2016-2017. Today Gravity Falls still stands as a Disney channel classic for many reasons, including its light hearted and comedic approach, the confusing and intricate adventures they go on and the life lessons they learn. These themes are very similar to one of my previous posts about regular show and it could just be a theme I enjoy. Creator Alex Hirsch nailed this template and the show doesn’t disappoint.

The main characters Dipper and Mabel are siblings who were sent to live with their crazy Grunkle Stan at his mystery Shack in the woods. The town they live in is Gravity Falls and is known for its mysterious activity including monsters and unexplored realms. They find a new challenge every day that leads them on a near death path that is always full of fun and jokes. Mabel acts as the main comic relief with here inncoent perspective as a young kid and Dipper is the genius trying to solve the mystery.

One of my favorite aspects of the show is not knowing what will happen. The show includes adventures and mysterious creatures you could never think of. Alex Hirsch seems to have a never ending supply of new and crazy ways to mix up the show. It also follows a very cool pattern of revealing the secrets to Gravity Falls to only the viewers at times which give us an experience much different than Mabel and Dipper experience.

Lastly, the show incorporates life lessons about trusting your gut, having a good support system and having fun in the little moments. This show is a coming of age story in a way for Dipper and Mabel in just one summer. The two learn to overcome and adapt to problems as a team and its a really cool experience as a viewer.
